Mentor Visit

Recently, I had my first mentor visit with my mentor, Dr. Christine Koehler. During this first meeting, we went over how the mentorship would work and we also answered each other’s questions about any confusion we were having. First, I went over more about the ISM program, my original work, and my final product since they are important projects that she would need to know about and will help me with. Also, I got to invite her to my Research Showcase which got pushed back to next week because of the unfortunate weather. We also got to go over how the shadowing process would work during the mentorship. We found out three different ways to shadow and she also told me three different roles she would play for me during this mentorship which include teacher, counselor, and mentor. This mentor visit was good for setting up how the rest of our mentor visits would be like and addressed any concerns we had. Dr. Koehler also started to teach me about the importance of knowing your own personality. She teaches personality to her interns and began to show me theories and background information about the idea of a person's motivation in life. It is a really exciting topic to start and I can not wait to learn more. We set up a routine time to meet on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. which will only change with special circumstances. I am looking forward to what I will observe and learn about during these mentor visits.
